Applied Teaching Residency Canceled

The Residency runs August 20 – November 12 | Register here| Facilitator: Crystal Anderson 

Have you created a new assignment/activity or redesigned an old one for a course, and need support as you implement it? Do you want to increase the effectiveness of the assignment? Would you like feedback as you implement the assignment? Join a cohort of participants in this semester-long residency for this initial 2-hour meeting to determine teaching goals, create an implementation plan for the semester, and confirm subsequent meeting dates/times. During this session participants will also confirm dates/times for 2 one-hour guided check-ins via Zoom throughout the semester and a final 2-hour debrief meeting to document the experience for your self-evaluation of teaching. The Residency runs August 20 – November 12. By completing this residency, you can earn a CPD Level 2 Teaching Competencies Credential as part of Stearns Center’s Continuing Professional Development program.

Do you want your syllabus to promote student success and engagement? Do you want to make your goals and assignments clear and relevant for students? In this self-paced, 10-hour asynchronous mini course, you will learn how to create a syllabus that aligns your learning goals with your assignments, organizes course content to maximize student learning and makes use of SyllaBright, George Mason’s course design assistant. Registered participants will be added to the course by August 15, and the course closes on August 24. The registration deadline for the course is August 15. Upon completion of the course, participants will earn the Level 2 Credential for Teaching Competencies as part of the Continuing Professional Development program.

Introduction to AI Inspired Pedagogies 

Tuesdays, November 11-December 9 | Register here| Facilitator: Laina Lockett

By now you’ve probably heard of ChatGPT or one of the other various new large language models (LLMs) that have taken the world by storm. But do you know how to deal with the ever-evolving artificial intelligence technology as it relates to your teaching? In this mini course you will be exposed to the basics of redesigning your course as it relates to learning outcomes and instructional activities. We will also explore how to get feedback from students regarding the changes that you make. This is a five session program and successful completion will earn participants a level 2 CPD credential. Registration closes on November 4th or once the course reaches 40 participants.
