STEM Programming

Our STEM Education Programming at the Stearns Center is designed to empower faculty, graduate students, and staff across George Mason University to enhance their teaching practice, collaborate with peers, and engage in innovative approaches to STEM education. Through a variety of structured and flexible opportunities, we support effective teaching, learning, and assessment in STEM disciplines.

  • The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program is a faculty development curriculum that scaffolds learning experiences for new and continuing faculty of all ranks and graduate instructors of record across all disciplines. We provide STEM-specific offerings for CPD. Click here for more information about CPD.
  • Non-Continuing Professional Development 
    • STEM Education Retreat
      • This opportunity provides faculty with a small stipend for participating in 7-8 hours of work. The retreat consists of asynchronous and in-person engagement. 
      • Lunch will be provided. Stipends are $250. 
      • This opportunity is limited to the first 10 registrants.
      • Previous STEM Education Retreats:
        • For 2025, the topic will be AI and STEM Education. The asynchronous portion will be available beginning May 19, and the in-person session is June 2 10:00-2:00pm in Innovation Hall on the Fairfax campus.
