The Stearns Center occasionally hires faculty fellows or faculty associates to work on specific projects–and maybe one of them should be you! See brief descriptions below, and access the full description for each position via the link provided. Faculty fellows typically work 10 hours a week, earn a stipend of $2500 per semester, and (with approval from the academic unit) get a one-course release per year. Faculty associate positions are similarly 10 hours per week, with a stipend-only support structure. Email us with any questions.


Faculty Associate for Anti-Racist and Inclusive Teaching Support, Applications due Wednesday, December 15, 2021; position starts in February 2022 and runs through May 2022.

In conjunction with President Washington’s Anti-Racism and Inclusive Excellence Task Force, the Stearns Center is seeking TWO Mason faculty members—from any field, rank, or appointment type—to serve in Spring 2022 as Faculty Associates for Anti-Racist and Inclusive Teaching Support (ARIT). The Faculty Associates will work closely with the Stearns Center Directors and team members, as well as other faculty and staff engaged in work around equitable and inclusive pedagogy. This position will be supported for the Spring 2022 semester, with the possibility of some Summer 2022 work. Each Associate will earn a $5000 stipend for approximately 10 hours per week of work.

Faculty Associate for Community Engaged Teaching and Learning Support, Applications due Wednesday, December 15, 2021; position starts in February 2022 and runs through May 2022.

In conjunction with the Transformative Education Through Anti-Racist Community Engagement QEP, the Stearns Center is seeking ONE Mason faculty member—from any field, rank, or appointment type—to serve in Spring 2022 as Faculty Associate for Community Engaged Teaching and Learning (CETL). The Faculty Associate will work closely with the Stearns Center Directors and team members, as well as other faculty and staff engaged in work around service learning and community engaged pedagogies. This position will be supported for the Spring 2022 semester, with the possibility of some Summer 2022 work. Each Associate will earn a $5000 stipend for approximately 10 hours per week of work.
