This program consists of an in-person session to design and get feedback on an AI infused assignment focused on helping students understand concepts in your course during the Fall 2026 semester. This paid opportunity requires participation in the in-person session as well as submission of the activity that you design and the student feedback about the assignment. This program is limited to the first 8 accepted applicants. It is open to any instructor of record in Fall 2026. Please submit this form by April 30th.

DESCRIPTION:Register here | Facilitator: Breana Bayraktar\nAlternative Grading Design Studio\nOPTION 1: Friday\, May 22 | 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. | in-person – Innovation Hall 427\nOPTION 2: Monday\, June 1-Thursday\, June 4 | 1:00-2:30 p.m. | via Zoom \nThis hands-on design workshop moves beyond theory to implementation. Participants will develop a practical alternative grading approach through structured design\, feedback\, and revision. By the end\, you will have a clear\, testable system you can use immediately\, along with strategies to communicate it effectively to students. Attend either the one-day\, on-campus workshop on May 22 (with snacks!)\, or the 4-day online workshop June 1-4. Both options will prepare you for the Design Charrette. \nAlternative Grading “Share & Tell” Design Charrette\nFriday\, June 5 | 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | in-person on the NOVA Annandale Campus\nThis opportunity is designed for participants to share their alternative grading materials in a structured environment with other faculty. All participants will submit materials in advance to the workshop facilitators (e.g. Course Policies\, Grading Contract\, Assessment) and plan to share feedback with others during the event. The “share & tell” will be an interactive\, engaging\, collaborative experience.
